ASICS plans more stores in India

22 December 2021, Mumbai:

Asics will add 17 new stores across India, mainly in Tier II and III cities. The expansion plans will strategically cater to the demands of consumers both from a performance and personalization point of view.

Asics entered the Indian market in 2015 and has over 55 stores across the country and sells on leading e-commerce platforms.

Asics already has a strong presence in metros. The Japanese sportswear brand has 13 stores in South India alone. One such store is spread over an area of 1100 square feet and houses the brand’s entire running, training collection alongside sports style and performance categories. For Asics, South India is a key strategic market.

For Q3 Asics had a 29.8 per cent sales rise. E-commerce sales during the quarter recorded a 12 per cent rise in North America, 47 per cent in Europe, and 23 per cent in China.

Sales of the performance running category grew 38 per cent due to strong sales in all regions and the core performance sports business jumped 29.7 per cent.

Sports style sales escalated by 19.5 per cent while apparel and equipment sales climbed 18.6 per cent due to strong sales in Japan, North America and Europe.
