10 December 2021, Mumbai:
Pantone's color of the year for 2022 is 'VERY PERI.' Pantone describes it as a "dynamic periwinkle blue color with a vivifying violet-red undertone," the "happiest and warmest of all the blue colors."
It mixes blue's constancy with red's vitality and enthusiasm. "Very Peri allows us to accept this changed world of possibilities, helping us to rewrite our lives' as we escape from seclusion," according to Pantone.
The color was inspired by the growing artistic community in the digital environment and gaming, according to Pantone. To put it another way, it's all about being creative and pushing the boundaries of reality.
"It was incredibly crucial for us to come up with a new color," said Leatrice Eisema, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. "We have a very different picture of the world now."
"It's really the happiest and warmest of all the blue tints," she said of the color. "It creates an empowering sensation of newness because of the red undertone, and newness is what we're striving for."
Pantone strives to interpret the zeitgeist through the prism of color theory each year, looking for signs in areas such as fashion, design, and interiors.
