Nike asks 'US Trade Agency' stop sign at Ap Adidas's knit shoes

 22 December 2021, Mumbai:

NIKE IS ASKING a US trade agency to block imports of a wide range of Adidas AG Primeknit shoes, saying the latter copied its patented inventions for a knitted fabric that reduces waste without loss in performance.

The complaint seeks to ban imports of shoes, including Adidas by Stella McCartney Ultraboost, Pharrell Williams Superstar Primeknit Shoes, and Terrex Free Hiker hiking shoes. The patents cover Nike's FlyKnit technology, which it said was the result of over $100 million and a decade of research- almost all done in the US-and "represented the first major technological innovation in footwear uppers in decades."

Adidas said it's analysing the complaint and "will defend ourselves against the allegations."
