30th November 2021, Mumbai:
Kolkata-based textiles business Maku Textiles Pvt Limited has launched womenswear brand Kameez with a collection of ethnic wear made from hand-spun textiles.
Ahead of the winter festive season, Maku Textiles has applied its experience in handwoven fabrics to a line of understatedly bold womenswear, the brand announced on Facebook.
Kameez is, “inspired from the delicate and simple aesthetic choices of the Indian historic costumes and textiles,” Maku announced on Facebook, as it presented Kameez’s first collection of sarees, kurtas, blouses, and stoles.
The collection has a colour palette of reds, icy blues, marigold yellow, and metallic champagne and mixes relaxed silhouettes with traditional wardrobe staples. Featured textiles include handwoven cottons, silks, and jamdanis and the subtle embroidered details keep the focus on the fabrics and their handcrafted, raw quality.
The brand’s maiden collection will soon launch at Indian fashion and lifestyle retailer Good Earth’s Khan Market store in New Delhi, the business announced on Facebook on November 28.
Maku Textiles focuses on hand-spun Khadi textiles and natural indigo dye techniques in its production and the brand’s name stands for ‘sustainable blue’, according to its Facebook page.
Maku’s textile production has a zero carbon footprint and its atelier in Kolkata is open for appointments.
