The proposal for an Apparel and Textile Park in Chennai has been announced by the Ministry of Textiles and Handloom Tamilnadu.

Chennai Apparel Association would like to thank The Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin, Hon’ble Textile Minister Thiru R. Gandhi, and The Principal secretary Thiru D.P. Yadav IAS along with the entire textile Dept. for having accepted our request and proposal.

We would also like to thank The Union MoS for Textile Smt. Darshana V Jardosh and her team assured us of the best support in this regard at the meeting held recently in Chennai.

'Together Again' at ICA's Las Vegas 2022 Trade Event

Registration is now open for the International Cotton Association (ICA)’s next major event, Las Vegas 2022 - the ICA’s first traditional trade event and gala dinner in three years. The event will take place from 8 – 10 November in the Park MGM, Las Vegas.

Century Textiles plans to focus on offering new products after considering retail price points. It also plans to focus on blending manmade fibers and expanding into new markets such as Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Russia.

In Q4 FY22 Century Textiles & Industries’ consolidated net profit increased to Rs 84.43 crore as against a net loss of Rs 4.89 crore in Q4 FY21.

Net sales were up 44.62 percent to Rs 1,186.22 crore during the quarter over Rs 820.21 crore in Q4 FY21. Consolidated EBITDA grew 66.25 percent to Rs 133 crore in Q4 FY22 as against Rs 80 crore in Q4 FY21.

RELEVANT NEWS Century Textiles’ revenues dip by 1.34%

Century Textiles and Industries’ textiles annual turnover grew 54 percent Y-o-Y during Q4 FY22 backed by strong sales growth and improved operational efficiencies.

The company’s capacity utilization reached 97 percent during the quarter as compared to 92 percent in Q4 FY21.

The company also launched home textile products for the domestic market under the brand name 'Hill & Glade'.

Century Textiles to focus on offering new products

SGCCI to organise the ‘Global Textile Trade Fair’ in the US from June 9

25 April 2022, Mumbai:

For the first time, the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) has organised a four-day-long ‘Global Textile Trade Fair’ in Atlanta, New Jersey, and Los Angeles in the United States of America (USA) starting from June 9.

The first-of-its-kind Global Textile Trade Fair has been conferred with the official logo endorsement of the Ministry of Textile, Government of India, and backed by the Consulate General of India in Atlanta and various American institutions and organisations.

The Global Textile Trade Fair will open in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 9. A three-day textile show will include a diverse array of products, including polyester, nylon viscose, Indo Ethnic wear for ladies, Kurti and Kurtas, home textile, medical textile, clothing and garments, handicraft and handloom, and Khadi.

The exhibition will have the attraction of a fashion show depicting the fabrics and fashion from Surat and across the country. The Atlanta exhibition will be followed by a B2B and B2C exhibition in New Jersey on June 17 and the B2C Table Top Buyer-Seller meeting being organised in Los Angeles on June 19.

The exhibition will be attended by the buyers, sellers, and manufacturers of textiles from across the globe to seal the business deals with the textile manufacturers and traders from Surat.

Ashish Gujarati, president, of SGCCI said, “A delegation under the leadership of exhibition chairman of the Global Textile Trade Fair, Amish Shah, and co-chairman Harshal Bhagat met the Consul General of Consulate General of India in Atlanta, Swati V Kulkarni.

The Consul General showed her preparedness for providing all required assistance, organising meetings for the visiting delegation with the buyers in the US, and involving all the textile associations in Atlanta.” Gujarati stated that the delegation members met Nishant Patel, chairman of the Asian-American Hotel Owners’ Association (AAHOA) in America’s Baltimore, and other hoteliers.

Patel is a native of Surat and has recently been appointed as the chairman of the AAHOA. The exhibition will be featuring home textiles; therefore all the hotel owners and agents associated will also visit the exhibition and cooperate to make it a huge success. Himanshu Bodawala, vice-president, of SGCCI said, “This is the first time that the SGCCI is organising a textile trade fair in the US.

There are many companies around Atlanta manufacturing technical textile and the exhibitors will have an opportunity to develop direct bilateral trade relations with the manufacturers.”

Archroma and Stony Creek Colors to enter a strategic partnership to produce IndiGold™ high-performance plant-based pre-reduced indigo at scale.

They duo recently announced that they have entered a strategic partnership to produce and bring to the market Stony Creek’s IndiGold™ high-performance plant-based pre-reduced indigo at scale. Stony Creek extracts its dye from proprietary Indigofera plant varieties grown in partnership with family farms as a regenerative rotational crop.

Stony Creek Colors developed the new IndiGold™ concept as the world’s first pre-reduced natural indigo dye, which was then developed with Archroma to offer the first-ever plant-based alternative to synthetic pre-reduced indigo.

The dyestuff will be sold at a 20% concentration in a soluble liquid form that displays similar performance to comparable synthetic indigo products available on the market. Stony Creek Colors evolved into an innovative leader in plant-based indigo due to its complete development of an improved agricultural value chain, from seed breeding and production to biomass harvest and extraction.

The company has been selling its US-grown indigo to denim mills since 2015. The pre-reduced plant-based indigo partnership took root in 2020 when Stony Creek was looking to work with like-minded partners to produce the new dyestuff at scale.

Delhi-based sustainability-focused organization, the Centre for Responsible Business (CRB), has released a new report titled ‘Circular Textiles and Apparel in India: Policy Intervention Priorities and Ideas’.

The report is based on secondary and field-level research and engagement with key stakeholders. It makes specific recommendations for incorporating principles of circular economy in the sector.

CRB launched the report to identify priority areas for Circular Economy interventions in the Indian textile and apparel value chain.

HEWA: Cotton Import Duty Exemption to boost textile exports

21 April 2022, Mumbai:

The exemption of import duty on cotton till September 30 will boost textile exports to $60 billion in the current fiscal year, says Home Textile Exporters Welfare Association (HEWA).

The exemption will not only benefit the entire textile value chain but also ease demand pressure and stabilize cotton prices, says HEWA.

Another benefit of the exemption includes the end of the volatile situation persisting for the last six months, which would help the textile exporters achieve splendid growth in FY23, adds the association.
