Vaishali Shadangule showcases handloom couture collection at FDCI x LFW

26 March 2022, Mumbai:

Designer Vaishali Shadangule showcased her new handloom couture collection Fil Rough at the FDCI x LFW.

The collection featured Shadangule’s signature rope-like draped details and surreal silhouettes. Its layers and textures added intrigue to monochromatic looks and volume in skirts and cocktail dresses added drama.

The collection boasted of a rich color scheme of red, purple, brown, and gold. It mixed traditional embellishments such as gold trims with more deconstructed, tactile details.

Notable looks of the collection included a tactile red gown with a funnel-like neck-piece and a voluminous purple gown with a textured shoulder detail.

Vaishali S recently showcased at Milan Fashion Week as part of the official calendar on February 25. Shadangule presented ready-to-wear collection ‘Srauta’, a tactile, ethereal take on handloom, at Milan’s historic Palazzo Durini.

Six designers showcase Khadi collections at FDCI x LFW

26 March 2022, Mumbai:

As part of the FDCI Khadi presentation, six brands showcased their unique takes on handloom textiles at the joint Fashion Design Council of India x Lakme Fashion Week.

The second day of the FDCI × Lakmé Fashion Week focused on sustainable fashion as an array of brands looked to modernize eco-friendly textiles and innovate responsible design solutions.

Brands Mossi, Abhishek Gupta Benares, Anavila, Anju odi, Charu Parashar and Rina Dhaka came together to showcase Khadi’s versatility Mossi presented an elegant, clean and architecture-inspired take on Khadi.

The garments comprised drapes and a bold colour palette of red, white, and black. Abhishek Gupta Benares’ menswear and womenswear collection focused on the fabric manipulation and structure of Khadi, Meanwhile, created in collaboration with Burdwan weavers, Anavila’s collection used natural dyes and modern-style Jamdani motifs to celebrate the region’s craft heritage.

Anju Modi’s collection was feminine, delicate, and featured an array of occasion wear. The collection used a sattvic colour scheme including haldi, chandan, keshari, designed to have a harmonising effect. Charu Parashar used Khadi to dress the modern bride for collection ‘The Khadi Bride’.

Khadi silk was used for kurtas and sarees in metallic tones with opulent floral embroidery. Rina Dhaka focused on lightweight and skin-friendly textiles this season.

With an off- white and cream colour palette, Dhaka played with textile to create an ethereal aesthetic. Actress Kangana Ranaut walked as the showstopper for the Khadi presentation in a white saree, overcoat, and ample jewels.

As per Akhilesh Prasad, President & CEO, Fashion & Lifestyle Business, Reliance Retail, the industry's future is ever-changing and dynamic, and it needs to create more adaptable models, Saloni Nangia, President, Technopak, kicked off the forum by sharing fashion retail industry insights through the lens of economy and GDP, the overall fashion industry, and key trends for 2022 - 23.

She emphasised the impact of COVID-19 on consumer spending power and expressed her optimism that the industry will recover in the coming years, with an estimated 10 percent increase in GDP per year until 2025.

Alpona Designs, Shriya Khanna launch latest collections at FDCI X LFW

25 March 2022, Mumbai:

Alpona Designs and Shriya Khanna launched their latest collections featuring contrasting rich florals with sculptural modernity at the joint Fashion Design Council of India x Lakme Fashion Week.

Alpona Designs’ collection & The Eden Garden was rich-colored botanical discordance of clashing print mixed with classic silhouettes of saris, kurtas, lehengas, and dresses.

The collection mixed blossoming flowers and exotic birds with digital prints for an eclectic yet wearable appearance.

Its notable items included a drop-waisted copper-toned dress resembling a bohemian flapper and a saree that mixed houndstooth check with blooming floral prints.

Eponymous designer Shriya Khanna’s collection was inspired by Peter Collingwood's Macrogauze textile pieces.

The collection featured geometric patterns that gave it a modern, almost futuristic feel.

Its color pattern comprising rice blue, navy, white, and coral gave it an Avant-garde concept and translated it into wearable designs.

From March 23 to27 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week is broadcasting physical runway shows on the organizers’ respective websites and social media accounts this season.

Samant Chauhan launches new collection at FDCI X LFW

26 March 2022, Mumbai:

Featuring icy metallics and intricate details, the new collection, Winter Rain’ by designer Samant Chauhan launched at the joint FDCI X LFW this season.

The collection created a world of permanent winter inhabited by eleven women in regal gowns.

Using delicate Chikankari embellishments, swathes of black, and ethereal silvery hues, the collection showed the beauty to be found in the darker human emotions.

Known for his conceptual collections, this season Chauhan used the runway to create an entire winter landscape with snow, clouds, and leaf-bare trees. The collection was refined and kept a formal air and told his story through beautiful detailing on classic silhouettes of gowns, cocktail dresses, and tailored sets.

The collection was primarily womenswear but concluded with actor Manoj Bajpayee closing the show as the showstopper wearing a silvery suit. Both Chauhan and Bajpayee hail from Bihar and have a long standing friendship, Bajpayee told News18 about his latest role.

On March 15th C.L.A.S.S. Eco Hub launched the 3rd edition of C.L.A.S.S. ICON Award, the annual competition with the aim of sponsoring and rewarding a visionary creative who is able to combine design, responsibility, innovation, and communication.

This is the call to action launched by Giusy Bettoni, C.L.A.S.S. CEO and founder, together with former C.L.A.S.S. ICON winners and sustainable fashion experts Gilberto Calzolari (2020) and Duarte (2021), during the latest C.L.A.S.S.

Cocoblu Retail is going to take over the fashion, apparel, and accessories business of Amazon's largest seller Cloudtail, which is going to shut down in about a month's time.

Brands Rara Avis and Shruti Sancheti made a joint presentation of their collections on day one of the FDCI X LFW.

Rara Avis by Sonal Verma launched a new ready-to-wear collection & Hodophilic which was inspired by the rich landscape of human emotion. The collection transitioned into metallics and highlighted traditional Indian craft techniques.

Its notable items included A-line retro-style dresses and gold fringing.

Designer Shruti Sancheti presented a more traditional take on ready-to-wear through her Alchemy.

The collection featured delicate Mughal era embellishments and handcrafted details on gowns and sets.

The TENCEL™ LUXE filament yarn will define the landscape of luxury fashion with its silky smoothness, liquid-like drape, colour vibrancy, and yarn strength.

Falguni Shane Peacok plans to launch an intergalactic-inspired collection named ‘Earthbound’ at the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week.

Bollywood actor Ananya Pandey will be the showstopper at the showcase.

Known for dramatic silhouettes and glamour, Falguni Shane Peacock will mix bright hues with futuristic tailoring this season.
