Miss Universe 2021 crown: Harnaaz Sandhu brings home this after 21 years

13 December 2021, Mumbai:

India’s Harnaaz Sandhu has been crowned Miss Universe 2021. Punjab-based Harnaaz represented India at the 70th Miss Universe 2021, held in Eilat, Israel on Monday. This is a proud moment for the country because the 21-year-old Chandigarh-based model brought home the coveted crown after 21 years.

Harnaaz was crowned Miss Universe 2021 as she beat Paraguay's Nadia Ferreira and South Africa's Lalela Mswane.

She was in the top 3 round with Nadia Ferreira and Lalela Mswane where the contestants during which contestants were asked a poignant question.

The question that the finalists were asked was, "What advice would you give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressures they face today?"

Harnaaz had quite an inspiring answer to the question. "Well, I think the biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique and that's what makes you beautiful, stop comparing yourselves with others, and let's talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. I think this is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own [life]. I believe in myself and that's why I'm standing here today. Thank you," she said.

ANOTHER INDIAN AT THE HELM OF A GLOBAL COMPANY Leena Nair New Chanel Global CEO Nair leaves Unilever CHRO's post to join luxe company in January 2022.

French luxury group Chanel has picked Leena Nair as its new global chief executive, joining the league of Indian leaders at the helm of global consumer product companies. Nair is Unilever's chief human resources officer and a member of its leadership executive. She will join the French luxe firm in January 2022.

Unilever chief executive Alan Jope said in a statement.

Shahi Chair Industry 4.0 at NIFT Delhi is offering scholarships for internship or dissertation projects to bachelor's or master's students.

Expression of Interest is sought from students of final year or a penultimate year from any recognized institutes pursuing Mechanical Engg., Mechatronics Engg., Electronics Engg. or similar degree or diploma.

Students should have a good understanding of industrial vision systems, electronics, microcontrollers, electronic actuators, encoders, power transmission systems, motors, and basic pneumatics.
The Duration is 4-6 months, starting January 2022. Stipend - Rs. 15000-20000 per month. Location - Delhi NCR.

The last date to apply is 27th Dec 2021.

US retailer Patagonia Inc to buy Khadi denim fabric, Vinai Saxena, chairman (KVIC): Poised to make global fashion debut

13 December 2021, Mumbai:

Khadi, considered the national fabric of India by many, is set to make its international fashion debut.

US outdoor apparel and gear retailer Patagonia Inc has bought 30,000 meters of khadi denim fabric from India, Vinai Kumar Saxena, chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), told ET.

The California-based firm, which has hundreds of stores around the world, sourced the fabric worth 21.08 crare from Gujarat through the Arvind Mills KVIC tie-up after a third-party certified that all ethical standards" were met in the manufacture.
