KIDS WEAR MARKET OVERVIEW: POST-COVID WORLD FORECAST & ITS IMPACT (2021 - 2026)

17 December 2021, Mumbai:

The Children's Wear Market is segmented by Product Category (Apparel, Footwear, and Other Product Categories), Distribution Channel (Offline Retail Stores and Online Retail Stores), and Geography (North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and Middle-East and Africa).

Market Overview

The children's wear market is projected to register a CAGR of 8.76% during the forecast period 2021 -2026.

The apparel market, along with the children's wear market, witnessed a significant decline in the global market due to the closure of factories and retailing sectors caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the cancelation of public events further majorly hit the market growth. However, the online retailing channel becomes the only support to the market studied.

The children’s wear market is one of the most lucrative segments in the apparel industry. The market is expected to overtake both men’s wear and women’s wear, in terms of growth in retail value, as a combination of demographic, macroeconomic, and social trends, which are supported by sales in the category.

Moreover, an increase in disposable income and a growing working population are some of the key factors driving the market's growth. This, in turn, is expected to propel the growth of the apparel market over the prospective period. Increasing product customization, innovation, affordable pricing of children's apparel and footwear products are driving market growth across the world.

The growing influence of social media and celebrities on children and their parents has encouraged the children’s apparel industry to evolve with changing trends. For instance, in 2017, Boots Mini Club collaborated with British television celebrity Fearne Cotton in the United Kingdom to introduce new children’s apparel line.

Scope of the Report

Children's wear is often more casual than adult clothing, specially designed in such as manner that it is fit for play and rest. Cotton and hosiery are the commonly used fabrics for kid's clothing. The childrenswear market is segmented by product category and distribution channel.

Based on the product category, the market is segmented into apparel, footwear, others. Based on the distribution channel, the market is segmented into offline retail stores and online retail stores.

Based on geography, the study provides an analysis of the childrenswear market in the emerging and established markets across the world, including North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and Middle-East and Africa. RBI article: To push Indian apparel exports, pursue FTAs

15 December 2021, Mumbai:

India needs to actively pursue free-trade agreements (FTAS) with major export destinations like the EU and the US to push apparel shipments amid increasing competition from Bangladesh and Cambodia that enjoy tariff concessions, an RBI article said on Wednesday, India has traditionally enjoyed a comparative advantage in the textile sector, including apparels, and they constitute a major chunk of India's export basket.

"However, over the past few years, near-stagnation in India's textile exports, particularly in apparel exports, has been witnessed," said the article in its analysis of the role of tariff regimes of the destination country in directing the exports of apparel from major suppliers including India.

The article published in the RBI Bulletin said India's apparel exports to the EU, which is the largest market for apparel experts, have stagnated in the last decade while other countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Cambodia have witnessed robust growth.

Patagonia purchases Rs. 1.08 crore worth of khadi denim fabric

Patagonia, a well-known fashion company located in the United States, has sourced over 30,000 meters of khadi denim fabric from India for Rs. 1.08 crore for their apparel.

Before submitting the order, Patagonia had a worldwide third-party assessor inspect several areas of khadi denim manufacture, including spinning, weaving, carding, dyeing, salary payments, worker age verification, and so on, at a khadi-making institution in Gondal, Rajkot.

Patagonia's purchase of khadi denim resulted in an increase of 1.80 lakh man-hours, or 27,720 man-days, of labor for khadi craftspeople. The order was placed in October 2020, and it was completed in 12 months, as planned, in October 2021.

It's worth noting that KVIC's new program is not only providing more man-hours to Gujarat's khadi craftspeople, but it's also bringing the Prime Minister's ambition of 'local to global' to fruition.

It comes as a result of a deal between the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and Ahmedabad-based textile giant Arvind Mills to sell Khadi denim items throughout the world.

According to KVIC's official press release, the company reached a deal with Arvind Mills Limited in July 2017 to trade khadi denim products over the world. Arvind Mills has been acquiring a substantial quantity of khadi denim fabric from KVIC-certified khadi colleges in Gujarat every year since then.

"Khadi denim is the world's only handmade denim fabric, and it is extremely popular both in India and internationally."

"Due to the excellent quality, comfort, organic, and eco-friendly properties of the fabric, Khadi denim is rapidly being adopted by prominent fashion designers," stated Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman, KVIC.
