RELIANCE BRANDS LIMITED AND ANAMIKA KHANNA TO PARTNER FOR THE AVANT-GARDE BRAND “AK-OK”

21 December 2021,  Mumbai:

Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) and Indian couturier Anamika Khanna have agreed to join hands for a 60:40 Joint Venture (either by itself and/or through its affiliates) for owning and developing the brand AK-OK, setting the foundation for a new outlook in Indian fashion.
AK-OK was born out of a deeply personal story in a time of crisis and Anamika Khanna’s sons Viraj and Vishesh’s determination to re-write the narrative to one of optimism and acceptance
- “Don’t worry, everything will be AK-OK” started it all.
Keeping with its genesis, the label started with an attitude of deconstructing everything that was “meant to be” and accepting what “could be”. With age and gender agnostic design philosophy, AK-OK evolved in recognition of rapidly changing lifestyles – where dressing for “day” v/s “night” was linear.

AK-OK builds a world where it is completely okay to bring together the luxurious and the relaxed, to create a distinct personal take on style and not be dictated by trends or “others”.

There is also an underlying romanticism in the ethos of AK-OK - about life - about not being afraid - of being out there. While the brand originates in India and holds intricate Indian nuances, every collection from AK-OK galvanizes design quirks and interesting silhouettes that transcend geographies.
“The partnership with Anamika Khanna pivots around our recognition of homegrown talent’s growing popularity and appeal, both in India and globally. Known for her eponymous label,
Anamika Khanna is well recognised for encapsulating India’s rich craft in global contours. We are excited to partner with Anamika’s AK-OK brand journey right from its early days and present a unique design philosophy to Indian and global consumers. Indian fashion brands are a strategic part of our luxury portfolio and with this partnership, we are adding another design powerhouse to our growing repertoire of fashion brands”, said Isha Ambani, Director, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. (holding company of all retail companies in Reliance Industries Limited group).
A design powerhouse - Anamika Khanna will continue to lead the creative direction of the brand as Creative Director.
“As India’s largest luxury retailer, RBL’s learnings from operating a wide retail network across its group companies and experience of building a diverse portfolio of luxury to premium brands will come in good stead to steer AK-OK as one of the most recognisable new-age brands globally.

It also allows for me to have fun with the brand while exploring boundless future possibilities
together”, said Anamika Khanna.

Tailoring comfort for the Indian subcontinent, XYXX leads the charge in using fabrics that cater to the climate, functionality, and habits of the young men of today.

In line with this thought, XYXX’s Hype and Code are crafted from Cotton Rich, a fabric that maintains the comfort and absorbency of traditional cotton, while enhancing the durability, performance, and wrinkle-free qualities of the fabric.

Code features Track Pants, crafted for superlative comfort and equipped with Fleximax technology- making them body responsive as well as easily stretchable. Hype, with its versatile range of joggers and shorts, is a high-street alternative, packed with the functionality of the Cotton Rich fabric. Classified under SuperSmooth, the peach finish ensures a supremely soft touch and is power-packed with an antimicrobial finish, Hype, and Code are built for lasting freshness and odor-proof wear.

Gokaldas Intimatewear x Dixcy Textiles to 2x turnover in two years: Sunil Sethi, Modenik Lifestyle

09 December 2021, Mumbai:

The two brands, Dixcy in the men’s innerwear segment and Enamor in the women’s intimate wear space, will henceforth focus on expanding distribution, strengthening supply-chain, and other front-end and back-end processes.

Modenik Lifestyle, the entity formed after the merger of innerwear companies Dixcy Textiles and Gokaldas Intimatewear, plans to double its turnover in the next two years by creating synergies and leveraging the strength of two companies, the company’s executive chairman Sunil Sethi told Moneycontrol in an interview.

The two brands, Dixcy in the men’s innerwear segment and Enamor in the women’s intimate wear space, will henceforth focus on expanding distribution, strengthening supply-chain, and other front-end and back-end processes.

“Dixcy is available in 100,000 stores while Enamor only in 4000 stores; now we can use Dixcy’s presence to expand Enamor. Similarly, our manufacturing and supply chain will be riding on each other,” said Sethi.

E-commerce, for instance, he added, is an area where Enamor’s learnings can come in handy for Dixcy, which still has limited sales coming from the online channel.

According to Sethi, Enamor draws about 25 percent of its sales from e-commerce now as opposed to the single-digit contribution of the channel in the pre-pandemic period.

The brands, said Sethi, will take inspiration from each other to deliver more fashionable products.

Dixcy Textile and Gokaldas Intimatewear, which owns Enamor were merged earlier this month. Both the companies were owned by Advent International, and as a result, the merged entity now is owned by the private equity firm. Advent International had acquired a 60 percent stake in Dixcy Textiles in 2017 and the rest 40 percent in 2019. It had also acquired Gokaldas Intimatewear in 2019.

With the merger, the company is also now planning to tap other consumer segments and will soon launch Dixcy Scott Maximus, which will cater to the mid-premium segment. Currently, it has Dixcy Scott Originals and Josh by Dixcy Scott in the mass segment. Enamor (in the women’s innerwear category) caters to the mid-premium segment, while Slimz is positioned in the mass segment. The company also has an exclusive licensing agreement to manufacture and distribute Levi’s innerwear in India.
