Heimtextil from 11 - 14 January 2022 is cancelled

15 December 2021, Mumbai:

Against the background of the worsening pandemic situation in Germany over the past two weeks and the associated restrictions, Heimtextil, scheduled to take place in the second week of January, is canceled.

Messe Frankfurt is working with the industry to determine whether and in what form a new offering in the summer of 2022 can be organised to run parallel to the Techtextil/Texprocess trade fair duo. Later events such as Ambiente, Christmasworld, Creativeworld, Paperworld, and Frankfurt Fashion Week are still planning to take place at the present time.

Due to the unforeseeable dynamics in the development of the pandemic, the reciprocal and cumulative effects of the relevant factors, as well as the extreme escalation and deterioration of the pandemic situation in Germany within a very short period of time, including the decisions taken at the Conference of Minister Presidents on 02.12.2021, the date of Heimtextil right at the beginning of the year, in the second week of January, cannot be kept. Heimtextil, the leading international trade fair for home and contract textiles, will be cancelled.

Messe Frankfurt is working closely with all industry partners to find out whether and within what framework Heimtextil can be held parallel to Techtextil and Texprocess from 21 to 24 June 2022.

Heimtextil as an international trade fair has always kicked off the spring trade fair season and is the first major international trade fair in Germany directly after Christmas and New Year with exhibitors and visitors from over 135 countries.

The exponential increase in the number of infections in a very short period of time and the accompanying multitude of developments and resolutions that are clearly outside the realm of influence of the organizer have led to a significant deterioration in the general conditions and necessary requirements for holding Heimtextil as a major trade fair of international relevance at this early stage.

These developments include in particular the classification of Germany as a high-risk area and the associated travel warnings, international and intercontinental travel restrictions in India, Japan, the United States, and Great Britain, as well as the quarantine obligation and “2G” (only with vaccinated and recovered status) requirements without recognition of the WHO vaccine list in Germany.

Equally important are the steadily rising infection figures and the accompanying urgent appeal, including by the Robert Koch Institute, to reduce contacts to a minimum and to cancel all major events.

A large number of the exhibiting and visiting companies at Heimtextil are currently reacting to this with travel and trade fair attendance bans out of an obligation of concern towards their employees to protect them from health risks. The global willingness to travel is continuing to fall rapidly.

The planning and staging of the other spring trade fairs Ambiente, Christmasworld, Creativeworld and Paperworld is not affected. Due to their later dates in the year, at the end of January and mid-February respectively, these fairs are still planning to take place at the present time.

Compared to Heimtextil, which is the most international trade fair at the Frankfurt location, Frankfurt Fashion Week currently has a much lower international profile and from this perspective can therefore still take place. The extremely volatile situation is continuously reviewed and evaluated in close exchange with the relevant authorities and industry partners.

Woolroom join British Wool’s Traceable wool scheme

13 December 2021, Mumbai:

Leading on-line retailer of wool products for the sleep environment, Woolroom has recently joined the British Wool traceable wool scheme.

Chris Tattersall Managing Director of Woolroom explains “We are delighted to have partnered with British Wool on our traceable wool programme, Wool ID, in our mattress and bedding ranges.

As the largest supplier of British wool they were always the logical choice however what impressed me the most was the level of detail that they go into when grading their wool.

Having seen this first hand across a number of depots this gives me the utmost confidence that the wool we are using in our products is the best and most appropriate available ensuring our products perform to the highest standards over their lifetime.”

He continued “At Woolroom we are committed to supporting the hard-working British farmer and this partnership allows us to do just that.

Not only are we connecting consumers with the farmer through our Wool ID branding and innovative QR codes on the finished products, we are also helping to ensure the farmer receives a premium payment for their wool.”

Woolroom pay a premium over and above the British Wool auction price for the wool they procure, this is in turn returned to the relevant farmers.

Graham Clark, Director of Marketing at British Wool commented “This is a significant step forward for British Wool’s traceable wool scheme and we are delighted to have Chris and the team at Woolroom on-board.

The traceable scheme which we launched at the start of the season has been working very smoothly through our network of depots, this has allowed us to facilitate this new partnership with Woolroom.”

He concluded “With significant growth planned over the next few years including ambitious plans for the US market we look forward to growing the business with Woolroom and being able to make a premium traceable wool payment to more farmers as we move forward.”

Iluna Group and Maglificio Ripa announce a strategic partnership in the name of sustainable fashion

14 December 2021, Mumbai:

Iluna Group and Maglificio Ripa announce a strategic partnership in the name of sustainable fashion

A single vision, shared values, a constant push for innovation, and above all a deep dedication to sustainable fashion - the real one. Iluna Group and Maglificio Ripa announce a strategic collaboration, each maintaining its own identity and independence, based on the complementarity of the proposal and the convergence of intentions for a new and more functional way of partnership.

Iluna Group, a leader in the production of smart lace, and Maglificio Ripa, internationally recognized for the production of premium and responsible jersey, both established in common sectors - from underwear to beachwear and sportswear - formally launched this collaboration during the MarediModa show in Cannes with a joint double stand where visitors could discover the latest collections of the two companies and also imagine new designs and solutions for sustainable fashion.

THE COLLECTIONS ILUNA GROUP SS 2023

Iluna's journey into the new dimension of responsible quality continues with ad hoc developments in GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified recycled yarns aimed at unprecedented effects in look, performance, and feel.  In terms of cords and shiny yarns, there has been an expansion of the range of GRS yarns that until now have only been available in opaque.

The precious cord yarn has a ROICA™ EF core, GRS certified and developed with 50% pre-consumer recycled content, double covered with a shiny yarn equally recycled. The brilliant and translucent one is used instead to add shiny effects, which were not possible with a GRS yarn until now.

From this constant search for innovation towards new materials and new techniques that are increasingly sustainable, the printing processes were born: GRS certified sublimation printing and register printing with Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification. The latter overlaps exactly with the design and colors the details, reaching where dyeing cannot.

Finally, with BIOLINE, Iluna embraces the circular economy and presents proposals that combine AMNI SOUL ECO® polyamide 6.6 yarn, which degrades in about 5 years after disposal, and ROICA™ V550 sustainable stretch yarn which, once disposed of, degrades in a smart way without releasing harmful substances into the environment, according to Hohenstein's Environmental Compatibility Certification.

ROICA™ V550 also carries the Gold Level Material Health Certificate from the Cradle-to-Cradle Product Innovation Institute, which evaluated the yarn's impact on human and environmental health. Finally, Iluna features an exceptional range of natural colors made from flowers and plants and a color chart with 16 shades - but still expanding. All dyes are GOTS certified and their colorfastness meets the requirements of OEKO TEX® Standard 100.

Lycra seizes control of Digital Experiences with a 'New Customer Portal'

13 December 2021, Mumbai:

Lycra seizes control of digital experiences with a new customer portal. Staying competitive in retail requires moving quickly and at lightning speed, which is why The Lycra Company’s latest venture, Lycra One Online, kick-starts its customers’ concepts by providing a newly minted digital presence rich in resources, community, and exclusive content to drive ideas from concept to launch.

The Lycra Company, known for its apparel and personal care solutions, has launched the Lycra One Online Network Exchange, a new online customer portal that allows brands, retailers, and garment makers to connect to a global network of mills on a single platform centred on the “science of comfort, fit, and performance,” according to the company.

Prior to the pandemic, “there was already a demand in the industry for a digital experience allowing brands and retailers to interact with mills and manufacturers in a virtual capacity without compromising the inherent advantages of an in-person connection,” according to the business.

And its Lycra One platform allows customers to do exactly that by allowing them to seek fibre solutions using its digital fabric library, interact directly with mills to start or grow business partnerships, learn about new capabilities, and digitally read product catalogues.

The Lycra Firm’s chief executive officer, Julien Born, stated that the company “has a strong tradition of invention and we must embrace digital revolution.” The Lycra One portal harnesses our connectedness throughout the clothing and personal care value chains to provide a one-stop seamless solution for quickly moving our clients’ ideas from concept to launch.

Its platform includes a “knowledge centre,” where customers can access unique information such as webinars, white papers, and films on topics such as new fibre technologies, industry trends, marketing, and sustainability, among others.

“These tools assist users in leveraging the value of The Lycra Business and its unique solutions to offer goods that may fulfil the demands of their consumers and provide inspiration for new ideas,” the company added.

Customers may also use the web to find marketing and merchandising solutions, such as brand assets and clothing hang tags. Furthermore, the company stated that requests for trademark licence agreements and fibre certifications can be made in order to reinforce the quality of products supported by “the strength” of the Lycra brand.
