DFU Publications had a tête-à-tête today with Winston Pereira, GM Messe Frankfurt, India taking insights on the event, and view on the prevailing macro-economic environment. Find below the excerpts on the same:

As per the sense he has is that" Gartex Texprocess India is fast taking shape as a one-stop-shop in the textile sector across the value chain with the USP 'An integrated exhibition for global Textile machinery players' supporting apparel sector in value addition as in a mix attaining much-required scalability, particularly at a time when the clamor for China alternate is getting louder ".

Here it is pertinent to say that the government is already doing its bit by coming out with timely policy intervention schemes entailing MSMEs & PLI for Textile.

Moreover, Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday pitched for taking the textiles exports of the country to USD 100 billion by 2030 to nudge the trade and unleash the animal spirit. The textiles minister also said the exports would get a boost as the sector would get zero-duty access in the UAE and Australia.

It is a time when global supplies are scrambling for discovering alternate funnel & semblance that, many things are already on the table such as India is on the radar of global players both in Textile & Technical Textiles exploring JVs, looking at investing in India, Introducing global products through local players in India to evaluate commercial liabilities as a way forward.

Replying to how Messe Frankfurt (MF) contributes to helping Gartex take shape & transforming into a one-stop-shop project by re-defining the platform. Winston avers," Total dimension to show has changed as Gaurav is already entrenched in the Indian market, while MF brings on the board internationalization of the event complimenting each other.

Why the relationship is working out so well is because," Both aspects/strengths are coming together, Mex Exhibitions is looking after domestic & MF is taking care of global side of the business.

Again, we also do domestic shows & know pain points well and so do they. We are also working very closely with MoT, and trade associations.

As of now, our sense is that the visitation of overseas buyers is an organic process, especially against the backdrop of the emerging geopolitical paradigm when the world is looking for CHINA+1/China+2/China alternate where visibly the spotlight is shifting to India with demographic advantage Indian growth story offers, and a new found feel-good factor.

More importantly, we have already started seeing it in our Indian shows where overseas buyers have an optimistic outlook. Especially in the sector presenting humongous job & investment opportunities is very comforting indeed.

It is quite likely that the emerging new global order is likely to impinge on the global supply chains of Chinese industry & operations.

Also, he alludes," There is a tectonic shift in global view on India against impending global recessionary fears in the advanced economies where I would reckon world can take comfort out of Indian economy. As it is there is a prognosis that in the coming decades G7 will emerge out of ASIA.

Some of the striking points of the event are interesting Props such as,

Denim Bull- A symbol for bullish trade outlook l Hanging larger than life denim shirt l Pocket Square Corner l Indian map made out of Denim fabric swatches etc.

Gartex Texprocess India has established itself as the trendsetter for India's Textile & Apparel/Garmenting industry.
