Myntrarecorded 1.3 lakh first-time shoppers from non-metros on the first day of its flagship End of Reason Sale (EORS).

Customers from Jaipur, Lucknow and Patna placed the most orders in terms of value. Myntra’s End of Reason Sale (EORS) is taking place December 10 to 16, 2022. Over half of the overall shoppers from the initial day of the fashion event were women. On the opening day, Bangalore shopped the most among metros, followed by Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Pune. The top five non-metro cities that shopped in this period were Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Indore and Guwahati. Men and women thronged the platform with equal enthusiasm, with a multitude of shoppers placing orders for millions of items. In addition to significant demand from the metros, Tier II and beyond cities and towns are also driving demand, indicating the rise of the non-metro fashion-forward shoppers. The company recorded demand for fitness-related items from both metros and non-metros. The first day of the seven-day event witnessed 75 per cent growth in demand for sports shoesand a 800 percent spike in demand for smartwatches. The platform recorded a 200 per cent growth on the opening day in the men's winter wear segment.

The data and insights being generated on the consumer-facing side will be used to create better forecasting models - basically linking it to the creation and supply side to respond to consumer inputs much faster.

Reliance Brands plans to open a Balenciaga store in DLF Emporio Mall in New Delhi.

DLF runs Emporio Mall, a luxury shopping center that is home to dozens of ultra-luxury labels including Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, Armani, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Versace.

Reliance Brands has signed a long-term franchisee agreement with French luxury group Kering to sell Balenciaga products in India. After Bottega Venta, Balenciaga is the second partnership for Reliance Brands with Kering, a French group that also owns luxury brands Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Alexander McQueen, among other labels.

Reliance Brands, the high-end fashion and lifestyle retailing unit of Reliance Retail, has in the 15 years of its existence marketed around 100 luxury and bridge-to-luxury global brands in India including Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, and Bottega Veneta.

Earlier this week, Balenciaga sparked a heavy global backlash from consumers and from social media users for referencing child pornography and featuring child models alongside fetish-themed teddy bears.

The controversial ads also came under attack from Balenciaga’s brand ambassador Kim Kardashian who said she was shaken by the French brand’s latest commercials’ disturbing images.

The spots were created to advertise the French luxury brand’s spring 2023 activewear brand in collaboration with Adidas. The backlash has forced Balenciaga to remove the controversial ads from its website.

Actor Kartik Aryan is a brand ambassador for Superdry. He will represent the brand in India, speaking to younger consumers within this market and helping target an audience of a younger demographic within the Gen-Z community.

The new collection featuring the actor as the face of the brand offers an array of Superdry signature styles, including biker and puffer jackets, statement hoodies, stylish tees, and polo shirts, as well as a wide range of denim. Premium British fashion brand Superdry has products like fragrances, body sprays, and body plus hair washes.

The UK market represents around 50 percent of Superdry’s weekly sales and the US around ten percent. Profits have been rising thanks to women’s apparel and recycled products.

Women’s wear accounts for 51 percent of Superdry’s revenue, up from 41 percent in October 2021. Organic and recycled products accounted for more than half of the sales in the 22 weeks up to October, up 11 percentage points year-on-year.

All indicators point to brand health moving in the right direction: revenue, marketing, and sustainability messaging are all moving in the right direction. Superdry will produce enough organic cotton to meet all of the company’s cotton needs, making it self-sufficient in the face of rising prices for the material.

Reliance Brands may set up Prabal Gurung stores at its Jio World malls. Prabal Gurung, a premium lifestyle label, is an American fashion designer who has dressed celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anne Hathaway.

He launched his line in 2009 known for its formal evening wear, structured pieces, vibrant color palettes, and clothes accentuating the waist. Prabal Gurung was born in Singapore to Nepalese parents and studied fashion design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi. He has championed inclusivity in the fashion world by featuring models of diverse backgrounds and partnering with a plus-size retailer.

Gurung has highlighted Nepal in his collections, including incorporating the embroidery of Nepalese artisans, and his success is a source of pride in his home country.

Reliance Brands already has a 40 per cent stake in designer Manish Malhotra's label in addition to a majority stake in couture brand Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. It also has strategic partnerships with other Indian designers and is partnering with fashion labels across ethnic wear, western wear, and wedding lines.

The move to partner with couture designers is part of the larger plan to stay ahead of rivals in the luxury segment and tap into global markets.

These partnerships are being built to also feed aspirational demand from affluent Tier II markets.
