Retailers and mall developers saw 15 per cent to 20 per cent growth in end of season sales this year. The end of season sales started at the end of December 2022 and will continue till the first week of February 2023.

Footfalls at both malls and retail outlets went up.The late arrival of winter did damp sales in December 2022 but January 2023 helped push up sales. The sale season started slightly late in December than the previous end of season sale because the onset of winter was delayed by a few weeks.

Lifestyle saw demand pick up in January and is now seeing strong double-digit growth. Cantabil also saw a double-digit increase in sales and footfalls against last year. Sales went up by 17 per cent and footfalls by14 per cent. But in terms of inventories, they were slightly higher by around 15 per cent during early end of season sales days than regular days. Lacoste’s sales went up in double digits over pre-pandemic days.

Infiniti Mall’s sales are picking up in comparison to pre-Covid days. Various brands across categories at Infiniti are offering up to 50 per cent discount for over three weeks.

EPS was Rs 4.50 for the period ended December 31, 2022, as compared to Rs 3.57 for the period ended September 30, 2022.

Total income was Rs 179.4283 crores during the period ended December 31, 2022, as compared to Rs 145.2204 crores during the period ended December 31, 2021. Net profit / loss was Rs 26.90 crores for the period ended December 31, 2022, as against net profit / loss of Rs 39.09 crores for the period ended September 30, 2022. EPS was Rs 4.36 for the period ended December 31, 2022, as compared to Rs 6.34 for the period ended September 30, 2022. Total income was Rs 205.60 crores during the period ended December 31, 2022, as compared to Rs 175.26 crores during the period ended December 31, 2021. Net profit / loss was Rs 26.90 crores for the period ended December 31, 2022, as against net profit / loss of Rs 21.32 crores for the period ended December 31, 2021. EPS was Rs 4.36 for the period ended December 31, 2022, as compared to Rs 3.46 for the period ended December 31, 2021. Total income was Rs 592.67 crores during the nine month period ended December 31, 2022, as compared to Rs 451.51 crores during the nine month period ended December 31, 2021. Tasva has opened a store in Jaipur. This is Tasva’s 33rd franchise outlet in India.

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail partnered with couturier TarunTahiliani to launch Tasva as a men’s ready-to-wear brand in December 2021. In October 2022, Tasva made its e-commerce marketplace debut with Myntra. Until then it was retailed on its own website. As part of ramping up its offline presence, Tasva launched more than five stores in December 2022 at different locations. The recently launched stores are situated in New Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Lucknow and Mumbai.

In February 2021, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail acquired a 33 per cent stake in Goodview Properties, giving it access to the existing luxury couture business of Tarun Tahiliani. The two brands have since developed and launched the brand Tasva. Followed by the launch of its first store at Bangalore in December 2021, Tasva opened two more stores in the same month in New Delhi and Mumbai. Tasva operates in 20 cities across India.

Madame has opened a store in South Delhi. The store is 1,869 sqft and has new visual merchandising elements. The store caters to the mid-premium to elite segment of customers.

Madame used to operate a store in the same location from 2012 to 2017, which made it a natural choice for re-opening. Being located at a popular shopping destination in the country’s capital, the brand expects to attract a daily footfall of 150 to 200 customers at the store.

Madame is a western wearwomen’s brand. Launched in the 1980s, and based in Gurugram, Madame has over 150 stores across India, of which 21 are in New Delhi. In addition, the business is working to increase its customer base through its e-commerce platform. The women’s wear brand caters to customers in Tier II and III cities who are equally aware of global fashion trends and are looking for brands to offer them western fashion options at affordable prices.

The brand’s sales grew by 25 per cent during the October-December quarter and it expects a strong end to the financial year on the back of its retail expansion. Madame was created to meet the fashion needs of progressive and modern Indian women.

Trent has entered into an equal joint venture with MAS to set up an entity in India for jointly developing a business of intimate wear and other apparel-related products.

Over time, Trent and MAS would pool their domain expertise to undertake design, development and manufacturing of a range of intimate wear and other apparel products.

Initially, the joint venture would facilitate design and sourcing of related products.This collaboration between Trent and MAS would deepen Trent’s strategic commitment to offer fully owned brands at its retail stores and enable MAS to expand its international presence further.

Trent sees significant opportunities to leverage the growing reach of its brands to build a differentiated proposition in lingerie, active wear and related categories and MAS happens to bring impeccable capabilities and track record in the manufacture of high quality products in this space.

Mango plans to open 35 new stores this year in India. These new stores will include two new flagship stores in Bangalore and Ludhiana which will take its network to more than 110 points of sale by the end of the year.

The brand has tripled its presence in India in the past two years with 85 points of sale as compared to the 28 it had at the end of 2020.

The Spanish fashion brand sees India as one of the most important markets in its internationalisation strategy, since, according to all forecasts, this country is destined to become the third-largest consumer market in the world within the next few years and

Ethnix plans to have 80 stores by the end of fiscal year 2023 and 150 by the end of fiscal year 2024.As of now there are 45 stores.

Ethnix, a wedding wear brand run by Raymond, is geared up to capture a higher share of the wedding market and to leverage its brand and distribution network. Apart from this, Raymond also has an existing network of 1500 stores, some of which will also be selling ethnicwear or wedding wear products.India’s leading fashion and textile company Raymond has plans for big fat Indian weddings.
