Under Armour India's MD takes over its local ops

20 April 2022, Mumbai:

Former MD of Under Armour India, Tushar Goculdas, has taken over the US sportswear giant's domestic operations.

The development comes three years after the Baltimore-based brand entered the Indian market.

Goculdas, a former Adidas veteran, has created Underdog Athletics, which on Tuesday said it has been appointed as the exclusive distributor had and licensee for the Under Armour brand in India.

Underdog Athletics will buy stock from Under Armour and sell them to the brand's retail partners in India.

"We remain committed to our original strategy of opening 10 stores every year," Goculdas told TOI.

The first-of-its-kind program was themed around the idea of ‘Building brands for Bharat’, and saw the marketing and business leaders from across the country come together to cheer on each other’s success as well as discuss India’s entrepreneurial future.

Forever New India: Shivani Goel As VP- Mktg Appointed

The Melbourne-based fashion brand, Forever New has announced the appointment of Shivani Goel as Vice-President, Marketing, starting April 2022.

Goel would be spearheading brand communications across all channels, brand strategy, retail marketing & public relations with a focus on excellence in CRM, e-commerce dominance, influencer management, digital marketing, and the brand ambassador program.

The move is effective April 2022.

She moves from Colorbar, where she was the lead - of marketing communications and international expansion.

Payal Singhal launches Spring/Summer’22 collection with Ensemble

12 April 2022, Mumbai:

Designer Payal Singhal’s eponymous ready-to-wear brand has launched its Spring/Summer’22 collection ‘Folklore’ in partnership with multi-brand luxury Indian fashion boutique Ensemble at its Kala Ghoda store in Fort, Mumbai.

The, bohemian-style collection fuses jewel tones with crafty details. It features kalidar shararas in rich colors, embellished lehengas, flat kaftans, and fusion-style co-ord sets.

The Olomi embroidery of the collection blends with the kantha from Bengal, kashida from Kashmir and phulkari from Punjabi, adds Singhal.

Inspired by Gond art, the PS Prints have a geometric bent and depict folk tales set in the jungles of Madhya Pradesh, similar to how stories were embroidered on quilts and fabrics in the past.”

Fluid and genderless, the collection was launched with a new campaign featuring androgynous aesthetics. Its textiles and crafts are inspired by states across India as well as from the brand archives, namely its 'India in Colour' collection from 2009.
