Fashion designers ride on NFT bandwagon

The rising popularity and increasingly fast acceptance of new-age technology in the fashion space leads to celebs including lead fashion-forward tech-savvy fashion designers are embracing the NFT bandwagon like never before.

There is no sense of deja vu within the space and as a use case in fashion designers' space in order to connect with digital savvy discernible audience not to be left behind.

Designers likes of Manish Malhotra, Anamika Khanna and so and so forth list long has already seen their initial drops of digital artwork

22 February 2022, Mumbai:

Today, Fashion for Good launches the ‘Untapped Agricultural Waste Project’ to validate and scale technologies that can successfully transform agricultural waste into sustainable textile fibres.

With catalytic funding provided by Laudes Foundation, Fashion for Good partners adidas, BESTSELLER, Vivobarefoot and Birla Cellulose, and six innovators, the consortium project will assess the technical feasibility of natural fibres created by the selected innovators using agricultural waste such as rice husks, hemp, wheat straw, banana and pineapple.

Hermès reports results

18 February 2022, Mumbai:

Hermès International powered ahead in the fourth quarter, with revenues climbing 11 percent versus a year ago, and 28.4 percent ahead of 2019, to 2.38 billion euros. For the full year, the French maker of status handbags and silk scarves saw revenues approach 9 billion euros, jumping 41.8 percent compared to 2021 and 33.4 percent compared to 2019.

The numbers came in slightly under HSBC forecasts.

Net profit leaped 76.5 percent to 2.45 billion euros, while recurring operated income soared 78.2 percent to 3.53 billion euros, with the company touting “remarkable sell-through” of its collections and touting a recurring operating margin of 39 percent, up 8 points versus 2020 and 5 points compared to 2019.

Leaders will forge alliances for a new era to tackle fashion’s social and environmental issues

18 February 2022, Mumbai:

Tickets are on sale from today. Formerly known as Copenhagen Fashion Summit, the forum has been renamed to manifest the organisation’s global outlook and reach. Global Fashion Summit will build on the 13-year history of the renowned Copenhagen Fashion Summit by strengthening its representation and connections with diverse perspectives from across the world.

Therefore, the Summit will be hosted in various key cities in the future, in addition to its flagship edition in Copenhagen. Under the theme ‘Alliances for a New Era’, Global Fashion Summit: Copenhagen Edition 2022 will endeavour to form previously inconceivable alliances within the fashion industry and examine atypical cross-industry alliances, in a bid to accelerate the transition to a net positive reality.

Victoria's Secret New Patent Hints That Its Axed Annual Fashion Show Could Return In The Metaverse.

Victoria’s Secret is the latest retailer to join the metaverse.

A series of trademark applications this month show it plans to sell virtual goods and run virtual fashion shows.

Victoria’s Secret axed its annual runway show in 2019.

Victoria’s Secret killed its annual fashion show in 2019 but a new patent filing suggests that it could one day come back in the metaverse. The lingerie giant filed a trademark application with the US Patent and Trademark Office on February 8, which was later shared on Twitter by trademark attorney Josh Gerben.

According to the documents, Victoria’s Secret has filed trademarks to sell virtual goods such as clothing, undergarments, and footwear. In addition, it is looking to trademark “retail store services featuring virtual goods” and “entertainment services” such as photos, images, videos, and recorded footage, which it will use in virtual fashion shows, it said.
