Kornit Fashion Week London kicked off on Sunday, May 15 at 8 pm in the UK with a stunning opening gala featuring designs by world-renowned Manish Arora – produced on demand and sustainably with Kornit technology, supplemented by a virtual reality presentation that illuminates his creative process for attendees before connecting it to the physical realization of those inspirations.

The following days offer spectacular runway shows combined with keynote and panel sessions by high-profile fashion industry experts addressing critical industry topics.

FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week, Mumbai to happen in October

16 May 2022, Mumbai:

The next season of the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) will be held on the ground in Mumbai from October 12-16, the organisers announced Monday. Fashion week is a collaboration between LFW - jointly organised by Lakme & RISE Worldwide - and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).

FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week, Mumbai to happen in October

Ekaya collaborates with fusion wear brand Arohi

13 May 2022, Mumbai:

Luxury womenswear brand Ekaya has collaborated with fusion wear brand Arohi to launch its second collaborative collection.

Titled ‘Radiant’, the collection is a modern take on handloom heritage.

As per a Fashion Network report, the collection features a range of sarees in bold hues as well as matching sets, blazers, jumpsuits, and shirts.

Textiles in the collection are handwoven in Banaras, where Ekaya procures its fabrics and from where the brand draws its inspiration.

Ekaya first collaborated with Arohi in the summer of 2021 and this is its second collaboration with the women’s wear brand. It blends the designs of both brands together.

Along with its e-commerce store, Ekaya retails from its flagship store in New Delhi’s DLF Emporio which it opened last year as well as its flagship stores in Delhi’s Defence Colony, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai.

Redress Design Award 2022 Finalists Announced

The world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition for emerging talents, the Redress Design Award, has just announced its 2022 finalists — 10 top talents from all over the world.

Redress, the environmental NGO working to reduce fashion’s waste, announces today the 10 finalists of the Redress Design Award 2022, the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition, supported by Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the lead sponsor.

The finalists, representing eight different regions worldwide and selected by an international panel of industry-leading judges, will be bringing their competition designs to life in time for the Grand Final Fashion Presentation in Hong Kong in mid-September, where the winners will be announced.

Textile waste is a global environmental and economic concern, with more than 50% of fast fashion clothes discarded within one year¹. Designing sustainable fashion requires a combination of creativity and innovation, with consideration for the source material, the impact of manufacturing and usage, and products’ recyclability at their end-of-life.

This year’s finalists sought out unique waste streams to create their collections, including hotel bed sheets, kimono, and obi silks, and damaged deadstock knitted collars. Many of the finalists also employed zero-waste patterns and other circular design techniques to further enhance the sustainability of their designs. The educational journey was undertaken by Redress Design Award contestants also proved its merit as three of its alumni – former semi-finalists — re-applied this year, earning places as finalists.

“The contestants have been demonstrating new dimensions of colours, forms and styles, while embracing sustainable practices. We can definitely see the next-gen game-changers are striving for a better future,” says Angus Tsui, one of the judges, who is also Creative Director of his eponymous brand and an alumnus of the Redress Design Award.
